COVID 19 Information

Parents, this post is all about how we will identify students who are exhibiting symptoms of possible COVID and what the process is once they are identified.

SYMPTOMS OF CORONAVIRUS:
COUGH, SHORTNESS OF BREATH, DIFFICULTY BREATHING.
FEVER OR CHILLS
VOMITING OR DIARHEA
NEW LOSS OF TASTE OR SMELL
MUSCLE OR BODY ACHES

If a family member or someone your student has had close contact with has tested positive for COVID please keep your student at home and self-quarantine for at least 14 days. (Please notify the school nurse)

If your student is not feeling well, please keep him or her home to rest. Better safe, than sorry!

When students get to school, they will be “visually screened” for symptoms of COVID. Teachers will greet students and discretely check to see if they have a persistent cough, have a hot flushed face, have watery/glazed eyes, look tired, complain of chills/feeling cold, complain of nausea/diarrhea, or are unusually quiet/inactive. If a student shows any of the above symptoms, their teacher will let Nurse Rebekah and our front office staff know. Nurse Rebekah and our office staff will check student temperatures.

There are two sets of conditions in which a student’s parent will be called to come pick them up as soon as possible:
1.If the student displays either a fever or new onset of cough or shortness of breath.
2. If the student displays TWO of the following symptoms: fever, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, loss of sense of taste or smell, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.
While the student waits to get picked up, he or she will be moved to our isolation safety room.

After being sent home students will need to remain at home at least 10 days after the symptoms first showed up AND at least 24 hours after the fever is gone (without the help of fever reducing medicine.)
If you choose to have your student tested for COVID, please wait for the results to come back before sending your child back to school and follow the recommendations of your medical provider.

We know this is A LOT of information, but hopefully it is helpful.
