It was wonderful having students back in building this week. Although it is not easy and has caused many adjustments to how we usually do things, I am extremely proud of our Reagan students for wearing their masks, keeping their distance, and following the hand washing/sanitization expectations. All in all, it has been a very smooth start. That being said, as anticipated, there are a couple of areas where adjustments need to be made in order to ensure the safety of staff, students, and stakeholders.
Morning Drop Off:
If you are bringing your child in a car, please make certain to drop your child off in front of school where staff are located. Morning drop off time is from 8:25 – 8:44. If no staff member is present, your child will need to enter through the front main entrance. Under no circumstances should you drive to the bus area (north building parking lot) to drop off a child as this area is for buses only.
Monday and Tuesday will be the last two days that parents will be allowed to come to the back playground area or to the teacher line up area. Starting Thursday, school staff will make certain that all students get to the correct location.
Afternoon Pick Up:
This has been our most challenging part of the day and where your cooperation is most needed and appreciated. If you are driving a car to pick up your child, please do not park in the parking lot and leave your vehicle. We need to have all vehicles follow the parent pick up procedures. We need you to stay in your car, drive to the area where staff and students are located, and wait for a staff member to assist your child getting into the car. Having fewer adults out of vehicles waiting for students will make our process much safer and much quicker. So, if you drive a car to pick up your child, please stay in the car and follow pick up procedures.
If you are walking home with your child, depending on the direction your child goes, your child will be escorted by a staff member to either the front parent pick up area or the back gate. This is different than in the past when walkers followed the same process as parent pick ups.
Thank you for your assistance as we try to keep everybody safe. I know that sometimes it is inconvenient, but please recognize that the changes being made are for the safety of all parties involved.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out and I will be more than happy to discuss them with you.
Thank you!
